Educational Plans
ducational plans for children ages one to four are part of The
Storybook Center programs. Children attending a Storybook group
receive
an initial assessment of their developmental skills. The purpose of
the assessment is to uncover and identify each child's individual needs and
strengths. A summary report is written and families return to discuss
the information. If the team (The Storybook Center and the family)
decides that the child and her/his family would benefit from enrolling, an
educational plan is written up by the team and the child is placed in an
appropriate Storybook group.
The individualized educational plan assists the team to focus on
maximizing the child's strengths while improving his/her areas of need.
Each child's individual goals are developed within the Storybook Group, and
daily observational data is collected and shared with the parents.
The Storybook Center is unique in that we have an adaptable
curriculum that allows us to teach to each child, within the support network
of his peers and his peers' modeling.
The Family Education Plan:
-
is responsible for identifying priorities, concerns, and strengths of
a child and her/his family.
-
includes assessments and ongoing evaluation.
-
prepares a road map for each family's experiences to come.
-
includes objectives in Language Development, Early Literacy
Development, Cognitive Development, Social/Emotional Development,
Self-help/Nutrition, Motor Development, Family System Assistance, and
transitions into school.
The Storybook Family Education Plan is modeled similarly
to the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) utilized by special needs birth-to-three programs.
