The Storybook Center
The Little Bears

for children 12 to 24 months of age
he Little Bears classes focus on developing peer recognition, peer language
modeling, early literacy skills, and vocabulary building. For a general description of
our classes click here.
Each child over the age of one year who is enrolled
for the school year at The Storybook Center is given an
initial assessment from which a developmental profile is determined,
goals and objectives are created, and a Family
Education Plan is developed. Each child's goals are implemented
into our weekly, literacy-based schedule of
story/circle time, peer play, pretend play, reading, brain dancing, music,
art, cooking and lunch time, sensory exploration, yoga, early science and
math, and discovery time. If a child
already has particular goals from another source or therapist, The Storybook
Center incorporates those goals with its own goals. Sign up now!
Peer interaction is at the center of the learning
environment. Each child has the opportunity to explore and grow with
his peers. The Storybook Center is unique in that we have an
adaptable curriculum that allows us to teach to each child, within the
support network of his peers and his peers' modeling.
Children in the Little Bears participate in our Storybook take-home reading program,
Growing a Reader. For more information visit our Services menu or
In order to maintain a high level of individual and small group educational
opportunities for each child, enrollment is limited for our classes.
Please note: No Little Bears classes are being
offered for the remainder of the 2009 - 2010 school year; however, we are
considering offering them in August/September for the 2010 - 2011 school
year. If you are interested in learning more and/or would like to be added
to our Little Bears waiting list, please call.
