The Velveteen Rabbits

4 Years to 7 Years Old

he Velveteen Rabbits are children ages 4 to seven years old who are interested in learning or polishing previous sign language skills. This group meets once a week for 75 minutes for a twelve week unit.  

Coming this summer:  We are offering this  4-7 Summer Signing Group.   This unique summer program is based on a minimum enrollment of three children.   Sign up now!  

Our classes are dynamic and include active participation.  The children will enjoy learning more than just individual signs.   In each lesson they will learn different simple games and activities to help them build their sign vocabulary and their confidence. They will practice signing short sentences, simple books, and familiar songs.  Our group focuses on teaching children signs and communication skills that are useful in their everyday life.  We also teach appropriate holiday signs and familiar songs.  Sign up now!

Our classes go beyond just teaching some sign language to students. Pairing speech with sign language creates a powerful tool to enhance early comprehension, early communication and literacy skills.   Our Goals include:

• Enhancing early literacy skills such as phonemic awareness

• Strengthening expressive skills

• Assist students in building their early education skills

The center has an open door policy for parents who wish to participate in classes with their children. Many of the students in these classes are graduates of the Baby Sign Groups and Toddler Sign Groups and many are first-time Storybook 'characters'.  Whether they are beginning to learn sign or have a little sign repertoire the children will have a good time learning sign and expanding their vocabulary together.
